Happy Muertos Halloween

*****All photos and links to Windy City pin-up have been removed from
my blog as I can no longer recommend working with the photographer.*****

Is Halloween and Día de los Muertos enough reason for me to repost the photos from my 2011 Sylvia Ji-inspired Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) shoot with Ashlee of Windy City Pin-up?

To read all my previous blog posts about the shoot, including some behind-the-scenes photos, you can click here. You can find Windy City Pin-Up on Facebook here.

I even had the honor of being Miss October in Windy City Pin-Up's 2012 calendar to benefit the Chicago Coalition for Abused Women.

Laura's (of WCP) work on my hair is even more impressive when you consider that I only had chin-length hair at the time, and my hair is extremely thin. Here is what my hair looked like after the shoot; Laura offered to help comb out the teasing, but I decided to just lather it in conditioner at home.

Giant's Causeway

These photos are from the Giant's Causeway; it was the second major stop on the day tour we took in Ireland. The Giant's Causeway is a stretch of beach filled with honeycomb shaped columns of rocks. According to their web-site, most of the rocks are six-sided, and there are over 40,000 of the columns. You can read more about how the columns were formed by visiting their web-site.

You can view all the blog entries I have wrote about our Dublin vacation by clicking here.

It is quite the trek down to the beach, however, you can pay to take a bus down and/or back up. Per the suggestion of our bus driver/tour guide, we decided to walk down, and take the bus back up. We probably would not have minded walking back up, however, it was hot, and it would have left us almost no time to explore the beach.

I love this photo. It is like a Where's Waldo page: can you spot Timmy?

We were such tourists.

Cheer Bear takes a Hoveround to the Grand Canyon

Who remembers the Hoveround Grand Canyon commercial? It inspired this beauty:

I combined three photos to make it (one of the Grand Canyon, one of Cheer Bear, and one of a Hoveround); sorry, I could not locate the original image sources.

Carrick-a-Rede island and rope bridge

These photos are from the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge and Island. We went there on a day tour that also took us to the Giant's Causeway and Belfast. I will write a review of the tour later.

Carrick-a-Rede island is a very small piece of land accessed by an awesome rope bridge. It costs approximately $9 to cross the rope bridge, however, it was included in our day tour price. It is tough to get photos while on the bridge because you can't pause to take a photo (they want to keep the line moving); perhaps if you go in the off-season you won't be rushed across.

I think we would have been more blown away by Carrick-a-Rede if we had not visited Ireland's Eye the day before; the seclusion of Ireland's Eye allows you to take in the beauty of the environment in a completely different, and absolutely wonderful way. Having to pay to access the island, being rushed across the bridge, and then having so many other people (in relation to Ireland's Eye) on the island, really detracts from the experience. Basically what I am saying is, Carrick-a-Rede is more of a commercialized version of nature, whereas Ireland's Eye is pure.

The stairs leading to the island/bridge were steep.

Final stairs to the rope bridge.

Crossing the rope bridge (those are Timmy's legs); it was farther up than it looks in this photo.

Timmy crossing the bridge.

View of the bridge from the island.

I love how there is a giant tree that stands out above the silhouette of the mountain (speck on the top left side of the photo).

Finally! Freedom! Haha. No more man-made trails and less rope fences.

I love that the background of some of these photos is so beautiful that it looks like a fake background.

Myself on the rope bridge leaving the island.

Timmy crossing the bridge.

Luckiest cows ever.
