What I Wore - Alika dress by Bettie Page Clothing

Yesterday I wore my Alika dress to the Chicago Outfits' roller derby home closer. Since it was a roller derby match, I decided to keep it simple with flats and minimal jewelry. Sure, I was probably still overdressed, however, the dress came in the mail on Friday, and I really wanted to wear it!

As you can tell from the photo, my shoes are a different shade of red than my dress, but I don't think it was as noticeable in person. Hopefully within the next couple months I'll share an "official" outfit post of this dress, as this photo was just a quick snap while we were waiting for the bus. I can't help but cringe a bit at my posture in this photo; my poor posture is what is causing the wrinkling under my bust, not the fit of the dress.

Gilroy's at the Guinness Storehouse

When Timmy and I visited the Guinness Storehouse, we decided to eat at Gilroy's. Gilroy's is one of a couple different food options within the Guinness Storehouse.

Guinness Storehouse

Our fourth day in Dublin was also Timmy's birthday, so, we tried to make it extra special by visiting two of the places Timmy was looking forward to most: the Guinness Storehouse, and the Jameson Distillery.

The photos in this post are from the Guinness Storehouse which we visited after going for breakfast at the Queen of Tarts. The photos from the restaurant and bar in the Guinness Storehouse are going to be separate posts. You can view all the blog entries I write about our Dublin vacation by clicking here.

The Guinness Storehouse is HUGE, eight floors!

These photos are based on this famous Guinness poster.

The Guinness Academy is where you learn to pour a perfect pint of Guinness.

This is the view from one of the windows on the sixth floor. As a side note, in Dublin (and I assume all of Europe), "sixth" floor would actually be what Americans consider to be the seventh floor, as in Dublin they do not count the ground floor as the first floor. When I say "sixth floor" I mean it in the American sense (on the map above, it is labeled the fifth floor).

And lastly, I leave you with a short (eight second) video of Timmy playing the digital harp at the Storehouse.

Queen of Tarts

My all-time favorite place for yummies in Dublin was Queen of Tarts. We ate a meal there twice while we were in Dublin, and went back several more times just to pick up pastries.

What I Wore - Strawberries and stripes

Yesterday I got the chance to wear two items I recently purchased from Modcloth on clearance: "Fresh for the Pickin' Skirt" and "Bright Place, Bright Time Clutch." I was also wearing Modcloth's "Can't Stop Dancing Half Slip in Ivory" under my strawberry and raspberry printed skirt (not pictured). If you are not already a member of Modcloth, you can get $15 off a $50 order by using this link.

This outfit was apparently a hit, as I got two compliments on the short trip to meet my boyfriend at his workplace; a customer at Timmy's workplace said "Your outfit is so cute! It is so happy." and a man on the street said "Wow. You are beautiful." As someone who doesn't get compliments very often (outside of Timmy, of course), it made my day! That said, I always feel a bit self-conscious when I wear something that gets attention because I'm not used to it.

I am in love with this purse.

I bought these shoes earlier this year to wear to a wedding reception (I wore more understated shoes to the wedding). I wore them the whole reception without problems (bare feet also). That is why I am baffled that after wearing these shoes for twenty minutes of walking, I ended up with 3-4 blisters, and the skin rubbed off the back of both of my feet. My feet hurt so much today that I was only able to wear flip-flops (no pressure on my toes), and the bottoms of my feet hurt with each step.

This is an "outtake" of the shoot. We were taking these photos in an alley and every minute an SUV came through acting like the alley was a street. Since I am pretty self-conscious about having outfit photos taken, whenever a car comes by when we are taking photos, Timmy and I pretend we aren't taking photos, and that we are just hanging out in an alley. With a camera. Not taking photos.
