Three fun, colorful, comfortable shoes

The shoes I tend to fall in love with have tall heels, and in my book, heels larger than a kitten heel always equals uncomfortable. I own quite a few pairs of heels (including wedge heels) that I rarely to never wear because I can't stand to wear them for more than a couple hours at a time. That is why I am quite excited about two new pairs of wedge shoes I ordered that came in yesterday; I love their look, and they felt quite comfortable when I tried them on. The true test, of course, will be how they feel after being worn for a couple hours. Additionally, last week I received a pair of flats that I have had the chance to test drive.

My favorite of the three pairs of shoes is the "From The Interior Out Sandal" wedge by Qupid that I got from ModCloth. I got the shoe for free, because readers of my blog are awesome, and used my referral link; my referral link gives people new to ModCloth $15 off a $50 order while giving me $15 in ModCloth credit. I love ModCloth's dresses, however, they carry a limited number of dresses in my size, and I never have good luck with fit from clothes I order on-line, so, I decided to go with shoes.

The wedges felt so comfortable when I tried them on. They were sturdy and I didn't feel at all wobbly like I do with my Target wedges that are of a similar height. The wedges aren't actually wood, however, they look just as realistic in person (if they were real wood, they wouldn't have been as comfortable); I refuse to buy shoes with the obviously-rubber wedge that is so popular in inexpensive shoes. The lilac material is so soft that I think that will result in less rubbing. For those wondering, the shoes sell on Modcloth for $45.

These "My Moon" wedges are by Nine West and I got them from Carson's (also known as Younkers, Bon-Ton, etc.). They are currently on sale for $50, however, I got them for $37 by using a coupon code. I love the bright fuchsia color and suede material. They seem comfortable too. My only complaint, which I also had about the Qupid wedge, is that the toe cutout is a little large which results in my sliding forward in the shoes too much; this makes the shoes look a size too small at the toes (because my toes hang over the edge of the shoe a bit), while simultaneously making them look too large at the back of the shoe (because there is a gap between the back of my foot and the back of the shoes). I'm going to try some heel grips to see if they do the trick.

I got these "Bella" flats by Merona from Target. They look much better in person as the green is actually a bright kelly green, whereas, they look darker, and duller in the photo. They are regularly $40, however, I got them when they were on sale for $35; normally I wouldn't spend this much on flats, but they are adorable, and quality-wise seem worth $35. I have worn these for a few hours of shopping and they started to hurt in the toes after about two hours; the shoes are the right size with a little room at the end of my toes, however, the seam area at the top of the shoes is tight. It seems likely that they will loosen up with wear though, so, I'm still happy with my purchase.

Excursion to Giant's Causeway on our Dublin trip

Timmy and I are going to Dublin on vacation this summer; to celebrate that, I have been sharing photos of things we plan to see in Dublin. Unfortunately, the pins in my previous Dublin posts are not showing up for some reason, therefore, there isn't much point in me linking to those posts this time.

One of the things we are most excited about on our Dublin trip is the 14 hour tour we will be taking where we will get to go to the Giant's Causeway among other places that I will post about later. The Giant's Causeway is in Northern Ireland, which is part of the U.K. Below are some photos of the Giant's Causeway.

What he wore - Derby de Mayo

As I wrote about last weekend, Timmy and I had a Derby de Mayo celebration (Kentucky Derby + Cinco de Mayo) with one of our favorite couples. I went the Cinco de Mayo route with my outfit and Timmy went with a Derby look. To be honest, I don't think either of us really knows what constitutes a Derby look other than big hats for the ladies, however, this is what Timmy came up with.

I am guessing that there are not many shorts worn around the Kentucky Derby, however, my boyfriend refuses to wear pants when it is warmer than 50 degrees.

I love Modcloth; I especially love that Modcloth gives me $15 in credit in exchange for me giving $15 in credit to anyone new to Modcloth! If you are not currently a member of Modcloth, you can use this Modcloth link to get $15 off your order of $50 or more!

Today I am going to share the elephant and hippo merchandise (and one rhino) that ModCloth has; my favorites are first. Previously, I have shared Modcloth's heels, more heels, pin-up dresses, and more pin-up dresses.

Celebrating Derby de Mayo (Derby + Cinco de Mayo)

My boyfriend Timmy and I had a great Cinco de Mayo / Derby weekend. On Saturday we went to see our friend Richard in the Sherlock Holmes' play "A Study in Scarlet." If you live in the Chicago area, you can see it at the The Athenaeum Theatre through June 1st.

After the play, we went to Cheesie's Pub and Grub so I could try a beer that our friend Kristen (Richard's fiance) loves called "Root beer (beer)"; as you can probably imagine, it is beer that tastes like root beer. I wasn't a big fan of it because it was served too warm for me which made the 10% alcohol more noticeable taste-wise; I did, however, love the strawberry cider Timmy ordered, and I ordered myself a couple after commandeering Timmy's drink.

Cheesie's serves all kinds of awesome grilled cheese sandwiches. I posted about their grilled mac and cheese sandwich last year. The sandwich of the month for May is the "El Jefe" which is (as described on their Facebook page): "cheddar and chihuahua cheese, along with seasoned taco meat, jalapenos, tomatoes, black olives and Fritos... It's grilled, then wrapped in a tortilla, then grilled again." Yes, that's right, a grilled cheese sandwich inside a taco shell! I was seriously skeptical about trying it, and wasn't keen on ordering it, but Timmy wanted to try it, so, I agreed to split it with him. We ordered it without olives, and they forgot the Fritos, but it was still ah-maz-ing. The next time I make tacos I am going to add cream cheese and fresh jalapenos.

Sunday Timmy and I got together with Kristen and Richard again so that we could have a Derby de Mayo celebration (even though the Derby ended the day before). Kristen and I went the Cinco de Mayo route with our outfits, and the guy's went the Derby route (after Richard stole Kristen's hat). You can see my Cindo de Mayo outfit here.

We ate some Mexican food, and the guys made mint juleps from scratch that they were quite excited about.

After eating, we played some Cards Against Humanity and as usual, Cheer Bear played as Rando Cheerrissian. That probably only makes sense to you if you have played the game. Actually, that probably only makes sense if you are us.

What I Wore - Cinco de Mayo

I have had this shirt for a couple years and I had always considered it to look quite hippie. This weekend I realized that with its bright embroidered flowers it might be able to pass as Mexican-inspired; I think that the bright colored pants and boots help take it in the direction I was going.

My boyfriend doesn't like these sunglasses because they are so ginormous.
